The Lighthouse
District in Monterey, CA boasts the world reknowned Monterey Bay Aquarium and
the Thomas Kinkade National Achives as well as over 100 intriguing specialty shops,
restaurants and nightlife establishments to be explored! We're an up and coming district located
just three blocks away from Monterey's historic Cannery Row. Although we're not as
well known as our famous sister district, you'll find delightful surprises waiting
for you in the Lighthouse District.
Eight Blocks Long and Packed with Food Establishments
Wet your whistle or grab a bite to eat at one of over two dozen
pubs, restaurants, and cafes that are located here. The Lighthouse
District is only about eight blocks long, but we know how to show your
taste buds a great time. Our offerings range from conventional family
dining establishments to ethnic restaurants that are favorites of local
residents and out of town guests alike. Whether you've come to tour the
beautiful scenery and history of the Monterey Peninsula or you live right
in our 'hood, be sure to browse our Business Directory and reserve a table
when it's time to eat.
Community Activities at Scholze Park & Senior Center
The Monterey Senior Center is devoted primarily to Adults and Senior Citizens. Activities include Dance,
Art, Exercise, and Health Resource classes. We also offer activities for the developmentally challenged,
such as ceramics and the monthly Friday Social (first Friday of each month from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.).
The Alliance on Aging Wellness Support Services office is located in this facility. Organizations holding
regular meetings at the Senior Center include the Central Coast Art Association, Humanists Association of
the Monterey Bay, and Narcotics Anonymous.
The Senior Center is a lovely, early California style, building available for special events,
private parties and non-profit organization meetings. Scholze park, the site of the Senior Center,
is a 1.2 acre park with a large turf area and group BBQ area.
