Thursday - October 1, 20092:00PM - Third Annual Oya Salon Breast Cancer Event
On October 1, Oya Salon in New Monterey's Lighthouse District is hosting its Third Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Event. This year's theme is "Light", and from 2pm-6pm the Oya team will work to light up the lives of those on the breast cancer journey. If you are within five years of diagnosis or know someone who is, Oya is offering a free afternoon of beauty, relaxation, and rejuvenation to lift the spirit of those living with breast cancer.In the evening, 6pm-9pm, the event moves to the Sunset Center, where the community is invited to a reception, silent auction, and fashion show. Proceeds from ticket sales of the evening event and silent auction will benefit the Breast Cancer Assistance Group of the Monterey Peninsula, an organization which works to improve the lives of local breast cancer patients and their families. For the first time, the Lighthouse District celebrated Halloween by coordinating a Children's Trick-or-Treat along Lighthouse Avenue in New Monterey. Shops, restaurants, and boutiques welcomed little goblins with special treats 3pm-5pm on Saturday, October 31, 2009, and everyone had fun!
