New Digital Chalkless Parking Enforcement System in Monterey

Posted on September 11th, 2022 by lighthouseave

The City of Monterey Parking Division's technology for parking enforcement has recently been upgraded. Three parking enforcement scooters now use an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) instead of chalking your car's tires. In short: don't be looking for chalk marks on your tires anymore.

The ALPR system, managed by Vigilant Solutions, uses “digital chalking," which works by integrating License Plate Recognition technology to capture and analyze digital license plate information with Global Positioning System (GPS) technology for a complete and accurate vehicle parking enforcement system.

Equipped with ALPR technology, a Parking Enforcement Officer patrols their assigned route in a scooter. As the officer drives down the street, an ALPR camera on the scooter notes the position of each parked vehicle and its image, location, time/date, and license plate number. When the Officer returns to the location an alarm will notify the Officer when a parking violation is detected based on time/location data using the ALPR and GPS systems. The ALPR system does not identify any individual or access personal information during the license place review process, in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.

The ALPR system greatly reduces the potential for industrial injuries that are associated with chalking tires by hand. and has the capability to help the City locate stolen vehicles and parking scofflaws.

Deux Cranes Chocolate Bars at Lilify

Posted on August 31st, 2022 by Lilify

Here at Lilify, we can not get over how absolutely divine Deux Cranes confections are. Beyond most gourmet chocolate bars, this is small batch, artisanal chocolate handmade in California - a true delight.

The creme brulee bar (pictured here) is sweet and creamy, combining aromatic white chocolate and a hint of vanilla-scented milk chocolate for balance with a lovely crunch from caramelized sugar. It’s a sumptuous indulgence.

We also carry Deux Cranes' dark chocolate and caramelized salted hazelnuts bar, a matcha chocolate with caramelized sesame bar, a passionfruit chocolate bar, and a strawberry and dark chocolate bar. All available online and in our store at 281 Lighthouse Avenue in Monterey.
