Lilify Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary

Posted on March 1st, 2022 by Lilify

A message from Hanni, co-owner of Lilify, located at 281 Lighthouse Avenue in Monterey:

We opened Lilify in 2012. As we prepared to open the shop, we were abustle with anticipation and adrenaline. In a particular moment of complexity our bookkeeper turned to me and said, “Hanni, we’re not playing shop. This is a shop.”

Now in our tenth year, I have learned that a business is a living, breathing, ever evolving entity. I have also learned that as a result of that evolution, an artisan shop has the ability to create community, transport, inspire, and offer an oasis.

On behalf of my family, the talented Lilify team, and the many independent artists, makers, and movers that make up Lilify, we thank you for your continued support and for allowing us to “play shop."

New Mask Rules in Monterey County: February 16, 2022

Posted on February 16th, 2022 by lighthouseave

Most of you have probably heard that the State of California and Monterey County lifted the indoor mask mandate on February 16, 2022 for people who are vaccinated for Covid.**

As of February 16, businesses in Monterey's Lighthouse District are not required to enforce masking and social distancing for anyone who's been vaccinated. Keep in mind that they can still request that everyone wear a mask while on their premises.

Please remember that each small business is run by someone who has a family and is dealing with challenges that you can't see. If a business is still requiring everyone to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status, they surely have a good reason for doing so. While we all want everything to be normal, for people operating shops, restaurants, and services, things are still a long way from normal.

Please help us by being your most compassionate and understanding self. If wearing a mask is not something you're willing to do, just take your money to another business until their rules change.

What if you want to keep wearing a mask? If you're vaccinated but still want to wear a mask, that's your business. You're allowed to do that regardless of what other people are doing around you.

You can read more about all of this in Pam Marino's article in Monterey County Weekly.

**Not vaccinated? Please keep your mask on indoors. Want to get vaccinated and/or boosted? You can make an appointment here.

Angie's Antique Ladies' Jewelry is happy to announce a pop-up shop at American Burger throughout the month of February. Stop by the restaurant at 738 Lighthouse Avenue in Monterey where you'll find beautiful bracelets, beads, brooches, pins, chains, pearls, earrings, and more. These heirloom items make lovely gifts.

Posted on February 15th, 2022 by Hula's Island Grill

Did you know? Hula's Island Grill makes all of our desserts from scratch. In fact, it all happens next door at Next Door - that's why it says Bakery Co. on the wooden door there.

When we caught up with our Cake Master, Juan (pictured here), he was juicing some limes for the key lime pie while chocolate cake was baking behind him. Woo-hoo! Thank you, Juan, for making dessert extra sweet and special.
