Posted on October 8th, 2020 by lighthouseave

Did you know? California State Department of Healthcare Services now offers a free Covid-19 Medi-Nurse Phone Line at 1-877-409-9052. If you are uninsured or have Medi-Cal but don't have a regular doctor, the Covid-19 Medi-Nurse Line can connect you with a nurse, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to talk about Covid-19 symptoms and help you find local health resources.

Medi-Nurse provides services in multiple languages, with steps in place that allow callers to access interpreters as needed. They can help you understand if your symptoms might be related to Covid-19, determine whether you need to self-isolate, decide if you need to see a doctor to get tested and/or treated, and help you connect with a Medi-Cal provider who can get you enrolled in the program.

If you have a regular doctor or health plan, call them first. If you don't, the Medi-Nurse can help!

Posted on October 1st, 2020 by lighthouseave

It is with great regret that the New Monterey Business Association has cancelled the 2020 Children's Trick-or-Treat on Lighthouse because of the Covid-19 pandemic. This is one of our favorite events of the year, but we want all our local families and workers to be safe from the coronavirus, so Lighthouse Avenue businesses in Monterey will not be handing out candy this fall.

We want to thank all of the families who've participated in the Annual Children's Trick-or-Treat on Lighthouse in the past, and we wish all of you a fun and happy Halloween at home this fall. Stay safe, stay strong, and we hope to welcome you back for more sweet and ridiculous family fun with us in October 2021.

Now that its fall, it's time to start thinking about your COVID rain plans. Chic Event Rental has got you covered with our large collection of tents available in multiple sizes to meet county and state regulations on social distancing.

Give us a call today and our tenting experts can help determine the best tent for you. Remember, we're all in this together! Chic Event Rentals is locally owned and operated. You can find our showroom at 485 Lighthouse Avenue in Monterey.

Headdress Salon presents our annual Dia de los Muertos inspired art show, November Skulls, featuring work by Heather Jorgensen and Michelle Robertson, on Sunday, November 1, 1pm-5pm, outside of Headdress at 883 Lighthouse Avenue in Monterey. Be sure to wear your face mask. Outdoor social distancing measures will be in place.

Heather Jorgensen, the artist behind Lili Jorge, creates multi-media shadow boxes made with old cigar boxes and recycled material. Inspired by Mexican folk art, each work is a compilation that expresses the delicate balance between life and death. Sizes, themes, and materials vary and each piece is unique.

Photographer Michelle Robertson takes reality and, turning it just a touch, creates illusion. Like Mary Shelley describing a lightning storm, or Charles Baudelaire describing a Catholic mass at night, Michelle captures something magical in a flash. Sometimes haunting, sometimes wonderful, her work is always provocatively inviting one into her world.
