Monterey Residents: Sign Up For Nixle Emergency Alerts

Posted on August 3rd, 2018 by lighthouseave

The Monterey Police Department has a new way to notify community members of critical information - with mobile text alerts through a system called Nixle. The Nixle alert system is in use by many government agencies across the US and allows the MPD to make notifications via text message, social media, and email.

The system will allow people to receive information and updates on events, public safety emergencies, dangerous weather, and traffic advisories. Information is key and MPD strongly encourages community members to sign up to receive alerts by texting the number 93940 to phone number 888777. Stay safe and stay informed.
