Monterey Bay Aquarium Surface Scuba Dive Program for Kids

Posted on May 29th, 2013 by Lighthouse District

Monterey Bay Aquarium invites children ages 8-13 to come dive with us! In this unique 90-minute Underwater Explorer Program, kids are introduced to the underwater world through surface scuba diving. No experience is necessary, only a sense of adventure!

Kids are safely guided by Aquarium leadership-level dive staff in our Great Tide Pool, where they'll meet amazing animals while getting a fish's view of the wonders of the bay. The small group size (one staff member for every three students and no more than 12 participants per program) ensures a safe and educational experience for everyone. The program includes a dive briefing, an introduction to basic scuba diving practices, a tour of the Great Tide Pool and an interpretation of the animals they'll encounter.

Cost is $75 per child for Aquarium members, $95 plus Aquarium admission for non-members. All equipment is provided, including a dry suit, regulator, air tank, and mask. No bathing suit or towel is required. Please click here for more information and to make a reservation.

Please note that adult chaperones must purchase tickets to enter the Aquarium and be present during their child's participation in the program. Adults may not enter the water.
