15% off purchase of more than 120 ounces

Ma's offers a wide range of products including shampoos and conditioners, soaps and lotions, kitchen and bathroom cleaners, laundry soaps, and more. You can bring your own container or purchase one of ours! Please click here to read how it works.

To get the quantity discount it doesn't all have to be in one container (i.e., you can fill 7 bottles of the same dish soap to get the discount), but it does have to be the same product. Please note: this cannot be combined with other discounts.

Pistons & Pearls Opens in Lighthouse District

Karen Nordstrand Is Now Certified Film Commissioner

The Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) has announced that Karen Seppa Nordstrand, director of marketing and film production for the Monterey County Film Commission, has achieved the highest professional designation of Certified Film Commissioner. This recognition has been attained by fewer than 30 film commissioners worldwide among the 315 AFCI-member film commissions.

Nordstrand has worked for the Monterey County Film Commission for 24 years and served 4 years as executive director. She handles the marketing, advertising, communications, and production inquiries. An average of $3 million comes into Monterey County communities each year from film productions, including independent films, commercials, fashion catalogs, television shows, corporate videos, travelogues and documentaries.

"Attaining the Certified Film Commissioner status is a great accomplishment," said Kevin Clark, executive director of AFCI. "Today’s film commissioners play many roles. They are called upon to market their jurisdictions, prove their value with economic reporting, and juggle the demands of productions in an increasingly high-tech, fast-moving world."

The Lunch Bunch at Scholze Park Center

Feeling a little cooped up at home this winter? Scholze Park Community Center invites Monterey County adults and seniors to join us for The Lunch Bunch: The Meal Connection, held at 11:30am on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. This is a perfect way to enjoy a healthy meal and participate in the many activities of the Center. Fee is $6 for adults, or a $3 suggested donation for anyone 60 and over. Applications Now Open for 2014 Film Student Scholarship

Applications for the sixth annual Monterey County Film Commission's $2,000 scholarship for film students are now being accepted. Forms for the scholarship, now named the Director Emeritus Richard Tyler Scholarship Award, may be downloaded from MCFC's website. Deadline to submit applications is March 14, 2014.

The scholarship program was created to provide financial aid and incentive to students of film and beginning filmmakers who reside in Monterey County or are currently enrolled in a community college or university in the county. The fund was established as a permanent endowment with the Community Foundation for Monterey County. For additional information, please contact the film commission at 831-646-0910.

Monterey Aquarium: Cooking for Solutions Tickets 2014

Monterey Bay Aquarium invites you to join us for our 13th annual Cooking for Solutions weekend, May 16-18, 2014. It's three amazing days with something for everyone, featuring more than 75 chefs, 65 wineries and breweries, cooking demonstrations, discussions of sustainable food and coastal living, and more!

Aquarium members may purchase tickets as of January 27, 2014. All others may purchase tickets beginning February 10. Please visit the Cooking for Solutions website for more information.

Paper Wing Theatre Fundraising Drive

It is with a great deal of excitement that Paper Wing Theatre Company announces that we're expanding our business! This means twice the shows, musicals, comedies, tributes, original productions, and rock events than before. We'll be taking over the former Stardust Playhouse space on North Fremont in Monterey, as well as maintaining our current theatre at the corner of Hoffman and Lighthouse Avenue in New Monterey.

This new space on Fremont will also be used for the newly formed non-profit Recovery Theatre, Inc., which will work with the recovery community to create a place for acting, singing, dancing, and theatrical arts.

Being an independent theatre, we rely solely on ticket sales and donations from people like you. We strive to bring you the best plays from Broadway, works from local playwrights, modernized classics, edgy and thought provoking pieces, and our own favorites such as semi-annual presentations of works like "Avenue Q" and "The Rocky Horror Show". But this takes your support!
