District Blog

As we all know, the quarantine has been extended for another month. This is a major life (and lifestyle) change for all of us. Coach Masha at Boxing Strong wants to help you structure your workouts at home with a weekly, authentic Boxing Training Plan.

Check out the free Boxing Training Plan for this week. If this seems longer/harder than you are used to, feel free to only stick to boxing rounds 1 through 6, gradually adding on Agility and Conditioning work.

And if this is the kind of workout routine you're looking for, new Boxing Training Plans are available weekly for $10. They come with a demo video on combinations and drills. If you have any questions, you can reach out and Coach Masha can help you power through your workout. To sign up, please e-mail Masha or give her a call at 831-200-3392.

Posted on April 29th, 2020 by lighthouseave

The Monterey County Health Officer announced on April 28, 2020, that all people over age 12 must wear face masks or face coverings in public beginning at 12:01am on Thursday, April 30, 2020. (Parents and guardians please note: children age 2 and under MUST NOT wear face coverings.)

Reusable cloth face masks are encouraged! The use of medical masks, such as N-95 respirators and surgical masks, are discouraged because there is a shortage of those in the marketplace and health care workers and first responders need them.

The Lighthouse District's Escape Room 831, like other businesses nationwide, has been impacted by the coronavirus emergency, but they’re making the most of their downtime by producing much-needed face shields for local health care workers and the police.

Escape Room 831’s fabricator Scott Rush, using a 3D printer, has been making eight to ten face shields per day and hopes to have 100 available by the time they are finished. The supplies are limited and sourcing has been difficult. Using all those supplies to fabricate is the primary concern.

“It isn’t the one million protective face shields Apple has committed to making weekly, but it is available to the local health care community for their use,” said owner Barrie Riddoch. “We are part of the community and we just wanted to do our share to help in any way we can.”

Escape Room 831 was founded in 2018 by entrepreneurs Christina and Barrie Riddoch of Monterey. Escape Room 831 is currently closed due to the coronavirus emergency.

Want to support Escape Room 831? Purchase a gift certificate on their website and go play a private game at their facility at 599 Lighthouse Avenue when the shelter-in-place order is lifted.
